Foundation History
Everything changed on Thanksgiving Day in 2002 when I found out that
my father was diagnosed with cancer. The last two months we were able
to spend with him brought our family together like never before.
During that time, friends, neighbors, co-workers and countless others
came to the support of our family. Through this, I began to look beyond
myself and designed a plan to raise money to provide resources for
families in similar situations. With that, the First Mile Foundation
was born. Staring in 2003 with our first events, the Philadelphia
Marathon and fundraising dinner, the Foundation has sought to honor
the many everyday people affected by the disease.
Our primary mission is to provide financial support to individuals
and families in the tri-state area during their greatest time of need.
Whether it's helping to pay bills, buying groceries or paying for
babysitters, our goal is to alleviate the added stresses often faced
by cancer patients.
We invite you to join us and support our mission. Only by coming together
can we make the changes that are needed.
Stand up. Do Something. Help millions!
