The First Mile Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit
organization. Therefore, all monies that the Foundation
collects are tax deductible. When you donate to or take
part in Foundation activities you are directly supporting
our mission.
This year, the First Mile Foundation is partnering
on two programs with the Crozer Regional Cancer Center
at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and the Delaware County
Regional Cancer Center at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
These programs, the Passport to Health and the Patient
Expense Funding Initiative, bring resources to those
who need it most.
The Passport to Health Program reaches over
5,600 students in many different schools. The goal of
the program is to focus on developing healthy behaviors
in an attempt to prevent chronic illnesses, including
the prevention of risk factors known to contribute to
the onset of cancer. Next year, we are hoping to expand
the program to more schools and pilot a new program
in some of the schools.
In conjunction with the Crozer Regional Cancer Center
and the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center, the
Foundation has established a patient expense funding
initiative for those patients that can’t afford
certain expenses during their care. These funds have
enabled patients to continue their care with the comfort
of knowing that someone was there to help. Help us get
money to where it can have the most immediate impact.
While our work takes the forefront, we have also worked
with additional organizations in the past and continue
to look for ways to leverage other groups so we can
have the greatest impact. We are currently reviewing
additional partnership opportunities for the future.
Please contact us
to apply to have your charity partner with the First
Mile Foundation.
In addition, the Foundation has funds available for
individuals and families who may need assistance meeting
their bills during cancer treatment. If you would like
to apply for a First Mile Foundation Individual or Family
Grant, please contact us at contactus@thefirstmile.org.
